The Last Hammentasch was performed at the Klezmer On Ice Festival Cabaret in 2026 as my clowning debut. 2 or 3 years ago I couldn’t finish the hammentaschen my bubbe baked me for Purim and I stuck them in the freezer for later. When I moved to a new apartment, I couldn’t bear to throw them away but didn’t have time for the ritual burial I thought they deserved. So, they ended up in my studio. For a year. One day I noticed that miraculously they…looked fine.
Meanwhile my bubbe has dementia, and hasn’t baked hammentaschen since that year. In The Last Hammentasch I resurrect these artifacts as nourishment for my community (served with decaf coffee of course).
